A Sacramento, California, native, Mary Kay graduated with an Associates Degree at Stephens College in Missouri where she studied art and philosophy. She graduated University of Arizona in Tucson with a Bachelors in Education and afterwards moved to Phoenix, Arizona. But the beauty of California drew her back and so she moved to Carmel where she has lived for over 30 years.
Mary Kay had the opportunity to pursue her art through oil painting; it soon became a passion rather than a pass time. She has studied with some of the area’s top artists who teach in this exciting field and have taken classes with Gregory Kondos, Ken Auster, Randall Sexton, Gay Faulkenberry, Kenn Backhaus and Albert Handell.
Mary Kay has studied art and art history throughout her life, and worked in as well as taught stained glass. She designed award winning panels for other artists in the stained glass field and have received many awards for her oil paintings. Her clients range from those in the United States to those in Europe, Canada and Japan.
